When office staff becomes a family

7 January 2009 No Comment

tgp_lglpll Next month will be a year in my current position as executive pastor at The Gathering Place. When I assumed this role early last year, I had visions of all of the things we needed to do and the scores of systems we needed to change and implement. I wanted to start doing performance evaluations, I wanted to increase the productivity of the team, I wanted us to do some amazing things together. Then I learned a valuable lesson. We could not accomplish great things for God, if we were not “doing life” together in some capacity. Our weekly, Tuesday staff devotional and prayer time has become the highlight of my week. It has allowed us to develop amazing unity.

Yesterday, we had the most amazing all-staff meeting. The level of prayer and worship that we experienced was powerful. Listening to how we prayed for one another was wonderful. The most important thing that could have happened to us on the way to becoming a high performance team was to become a family. For that I am grateful. Our staff family is awesome.
